Our current working team consists of a managing director / quantity surveyor, two contracts managers, a sales consultant, a receptionist/administration clerk, an accounts and payroll clerk, seven qualified carpenters and three labourers. In addition to these staff, experienced labour contract carpenters can be called upon as and when our workload requires.
Waipukurau Construction provides training to develop and maintain our employees’ skills and knowledge. The majority of our “on-site” workforce have current Carpentry Licences issued by the Department of Building & Housing.
Gordon Spencer
Gordon has been involved in the building industry for the last 16 years. Initially working on the tools for the family building business in the early 90’s, a desire to progress into management soon led to a quantity surveyor’s position with the old Waipukurau Construction Company Ltd.
With the retirement of the previous business owners in 2002, the opportunity arose to take over the construction business, and Waipukurau Construction 2002 Ltd. was formed. Since 2002 Gordon and Sharon have developed the new company.
Gordon performs the roles of managing director and quantity surveyor and has been a member of the H. B. Registered Master Builders Association Executive since 2002. He is also the company Health & Safety Manager.
Sharon Spencer
Sharon has a background in retailing. When the new company was formed, Sharon took over the responsibilities of Payroll and Accounts Clerk. These tasks are in addition to caring for two children and participating in various school and community activities.
Martin Panins
Martin is responsible for the management of our various contracts. He has supervised contracts of up to $400,000 in value throughout Hawkes Bay. With a background as a qualified and knowledgeable carpenter, Martin has 8 years experience in the building industry and has a current Site 1 Building License.
